If you have an older version of Node.js and NPM, you can use Node Version Manager NVM to use multiple node versions on your system. MEAN2 only supports Node 6.x or higher versions.
To start your application with MEAN, you need to clone the base MEAN repository from Github. This repository contains all the packages, modules and also a sample code base in order to start and make it easy to develop your application. Following the steps below will guide you to install the latest MEAN version.
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/Hackbit/nko2017-news.git cd nko2017-news npm install npm start
If all the packages and modules installed successfully, your default web browser will open and you can see the default MEAN application at
http://localhost:3000. This is the default port unless you change that manually.
Any feedback is most welcome
clever and clean.
great app! i'd suggest adding a language filter, somehow i got some stories in german language. then, i'd suggest adding a compact mode maybe 2 or 3 columns at once. then, filtering news sources and topics.
I liked the simplicity and focus on the main purpose of the app: read the news without any ads. It could be a little less bare bones visually, as people seem to enjoy simple but nice looking designs (Medium, Dropbox, etc).
It was unclear whether this is meant to be a hosted service that a user would visit like any other site, or whether it was intended to be run locally. In the first case you're setting yourselves up for legal problems, and in the second you're pushing some of the legal onto the users too. In either case, ads are what sustain the content creators, so a service that circumvents that without providing revenue to them or to you is likely to have some issues staying online/active.
If you can find a way to make the concept work though, you'll have solved a big problem!
Good one and good place to read news without annoying ads. Hope you will improve the UI further.. voted for your entry
